My name is Nelson Lopes, born and raised in Porto, Portugal. I am an Information Systems Manager in a group of companies and the founder of nelsonlopes.net.
I have been passionate about technology since a very young age, curious and an experimenter by nature.
Throughout my journey, I felt the need to share knowledge and experience, and I found this website as a way to do so.
This blog aims to raise awareness among its visitors about the protection of their online accounts, devices, networks, and more. Every day, we hear news about innocent people falling into traps originating from phone calls, emails, or fraudulent messages, resulting in the transfer of a certain amount from the victim’s bank account to the scammer’s account.
On the professional side, businesses are attacked, and personal data of their customers, suppliers, and employees are stolen. These incidents can leave operations paralyzed for days or weeks, not to mention the impact on their reputation. And believe me, the news we hear represents a very, very small percentage of the attacks that actually occur.
After several years of implementing IT projects, always with security and privacy in mind, the need arose to start sharing the experience and knowledge I had gained. All the questions frequently asked by family, friends, and colleagues encouraged me to find a way to share my concerns about information protection.
The fact that I observe daily the lack of knowledge and care among most computer system users (not just beginners, but also experienced professionals) is the catalyst that keeps me motivated on this journey.
